WITH TONGUE FIRMLY IN CHEEK, the Montville Community Events team hosted A Royal Montville Wedding during the last weekend of May to help support a local Sunshine Coast charity. Attended by almost 70 guests, it was an outstanding night of fun and frivolity that did the town proud.
Resplendent in a red-and-gold royal coat, Montville Cafe Bar Grill's dashing young licensee Ryan Purcell played the role of Prince William to perfection, with "bride" Lara Mundri charmingly beautiful as Catherine.
Well-known business locals Pauline Goundrey and Philip Lainchbury excelled as Pippa and Harry, debonair Roger & Deb Loughnan bore an uncanny likeness to Charles & Camilla, while Janet & Steve Dixon were the epitome of elegance as Mr & Mrs Middleton. Poised and dignified (albeit carrying an inflatable Corgi!) Anne & Chris Wells from Montville IGA performed their parts splendidly as the Royal elders, Queen Elizabeth & Prince Phillip.
Officiated by Mark Green, aka The Archbishop of Windy Ridge, and held at the Montville Village Hall, the ceremony was hilariously interrupted several times when Cybell Pennasort, as THAT WOMAN (the scorned lover), tried to "show just cause" by sobbing her objections to the union. Later, fireman Darren Scorer saved the day by bursting in at the crucial moment with the wedding ring, haphazardly "forgotten" by a clearly distracted Prince Harry.
Following the ceremony, Montville Cafe Bar Grill's lovely Tudor building served as Buckingham Palace for the the post-ceremony balcony scene when, cheered on by happy guests in Montville's Main Street below, William and Catherine shared That Kiss. A jovial reception in the Montville Village Hall, expertly emceed by Petro Geyl, capped off a fabulous lighthearted evening.
Memories of the occasion were captured by Montville Real Estate's, Jenny Tatton, who did an outstanding job as The Royal Photographer. The beautiful wedding cake was made by locals Wendy & Tamara DeVries and Carol Turner and the clever invitations were designed by Marie Dillon-Krech from Ruby & Rose Interiors. Montville's popular post-mistress, Susan Johnston, expertly tailored the authentically stunning jackets worn by the male members of the wedding party. Susan was also a member of the hard-working Montville Community Events team along with Pauline Goundrey, Rene Poulos and Doug Patterson who, together with their fabulous "cast", brilliantly executed an original idea conceived by Kyleigh & Michael Simpson.
Congratulations to all for a fantastic effort and a wonderfully entertaining evening in Montville. All profits go to the Cittamani Hospice in Palmwoods. |
