A PERFECT PROPOSAL

A LOVELY STORY HAS COME OUR WAY ABOUT UK COUPLE ROB AND EMMA who, during their recent trip to Australia, became engaged in our beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland. From his home in the United Kingdom, Rob carefully planned what he hoped would be the perfect proposal. Researching possibilities on the internet, he chose Hunchy Hideaway with its secret waterfall to pop the question.

Rob explains:

"I had been planning our trip to the Southern Hemisphere for quite a long time – well over a year in fact. I thought a few months ago that I would like to propose to Emma at some stage in the near future as we have been going out for nearly three years. I thought of all sorts of different ways that I could propose and then decided that I would like to do it whilst we were in Australia – not every girl in the UK can say that she got engaged in Australia.

"Then came the task of finding a unique and memorable way to pop the question. I thought about Sydney Harbour Bridge then during a conversation Emma said to her Auntie that she wouldn’t be able to cope with the heights. I spent weeks searching the internet typing things in Google such as 'Proposal ideas on the Sunshine Coast' and 'unique accommodation in the Sunshine Coast'. Finally, I narrowed it down to two ideas. I had seen the Hunchy Hideaway website and also the possibility of hiring a boat in Noosa. Out of these two, I most fancied the relaxing getaway in the Hinterland and the secret waterfall was the thing that finally tipped the balance.

"I didn’t really plan when to do it. I just let the weekend take its course. I knew we were going out for a nice meal on Saturday evening and so I decided on Saturday afternoon, I would suggest to Emma that we take a stroll. She unwittingly went along with all of this and we made our way down the steep path to the stream, followed it to the waterfall, always paying attention for spiders, which neither of us can stand, and found the waterfall where I asked the question."

Previously, Rob had confided his secret proposal plans to Hunchy Hideaway's owners, Denis and Ali, and later rated their beautiful accommodation a brilliant ten-out-of-ten.

"We felt so relaxed during our time there. When we arrived, Ali showed us to our cottage but waited at the door. She didn't want to come inside and Emma thought this was a bit strange, until we went inside ourselves to find a heart shaped display made from red and white rose petals. Emma’s face was beaming, I knew that she was so happy with this little surprise that I had planned."

A delighted Emma (pictured at the top of the page next to her rose petal heart) takes up the story.

"We did so much during our stay .... Hunchy is so conveniently located [that with a hire car] we went to Eumundi Markets and then for a stroll around Montville but it was so nice after that to return to our own little cottage. It was so tranquil and peaceful and we stoked up the fire and just had an amazingly relaxing time."

Congratulations Rob and Emma. We are delighted you chose our lovely hinterland region and the wonderful accommodation at Hunchy Hideaway for your perfect proposal. We wish you every happiness and hope to see you back for a Hinterland Honeymoon when next you visit Australia.
